YOKOHAMA: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Malaysia was happy with Myanmar pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi's release from house arrest and hoped it would be final.

"This is something we had been asking for from the Myanmar government and we've also stated our stand that the action (Suu Kyi's house arrest) should be the last. In the past, she had been released but was then rearrested," he told reporters here yesterday.

Muhyiddin hoped that from now on, Suu Kyi would be given the space and opportunity to get on with her life. -- Bernama
